It’s been a busy week.
For that reason, I’d like to ask your permission to share this excerpt from an inspiration I had ten years ago: “The Adventures of Chispita.”
It begins like this:
“The call was soft, but irreversible.
Chispita (Little Spark) jumped.
It was Chispita’s turn to start the adventure, the beginning of the Golden Journey.
The Big World, with all its wonders, waited out there.
To get ready for the excursion, Chispita prepared a backpack, a tent, a lantern, fishing pole and some snacks.
Enough to start the trip.
With light bags and pounding, beating heart, Chispita walked deep into de Enchanted Forest.
The Enchanted Forest was a kind place with sweet water streams, great fishing and plenty of wood to make a fire.
Chispita found a magnificent place to camp. Perfect for a special visitor.
Chispita opened the tent.
It was tiny, but Chispita thought it was very comfortable.
Soon, the night filled everything.
Chispita gave a big yawn and went to sleep.
Chispita would sleep there for many nights.
Nine months, or so…

It just keeps happening.
Life starts joyfully, with a sudden spark of light, a little spark, a Chispita.”
“The Adventures of Chispita” is an allegory of life in mom’s belly, inspired in my first grandchild, final version illustrated by my daughter.
Last weekend I welcomed my fifth grandchild, my fifth little spark, my fifth Chispita.
Love overwhelms me and persists on its luminous journey.
Welcome Simón Eduardo!
