The letter, (1890-1891)

She wrote the word on a piece of paper and stared at it for a long time. A single verb. So small, and yet it seemed to shift everything around her.
She said it softly. The chair stayed where it was, the window remained closed, the light motionless on the wall. And yet, something had changed.
She tried others. “I love.” Suddenly, the room had space for air. “I hurt.” The room grew smaller.
She ran a finger over the four letters: Rift, Echo, Memory, Breath. Then she folded the paper into four and hid it in the drawer.
Years later, she found it.
The paper had yellowed. The word had almost faded away.
She could no longer remember what the verb was.
Only that once, her whole life had fit inside it.
And that, even now, it still moved her.
Her debut poetry collection, Gestures in the Light (2023), marks the emergence of a poetic voice that explores memory, place, and the collective “we.” Her work has been published and translated into English and Italian.
She is a member of literary and cultural organizations in Cyprus and Greece and actively participates in initiatives dedicated to literature and the arts.
